Jigyasu

Cambridge Primary · English, Maths, Science

Questions first.
Answers they find themselves.

Jigyasu is a tutor for one child at a time. It asks the next question instead of handing over the answer, so they learn to think things through.

Ghar ki bhasha bhi chalegi. (Your home language works too.)

Jigyasu is early, and we are bringing in families one at a time. Asking does not create an account.

Science · shadows

Yes, a shadow. So where did the dark come from? Something had to make that patch of floor darker than the rest. What do you think?

because the bottle stops the light getting there

That's exactly it, and you said it better than I could have.

It asks, and then it waits.

Here is a moment from a real session. The tutor has just asked where a dark patch on the floor came from. It does not explain shadows. It asks what has to be there, and waits.

Tutor

Yes, a shadow. Now here's the bit I can't work out: where did the dark come from? Something had to make that patch of floor darker than the rest. What do you think?

Anonymised excerpt from a real session. Words unchanged.

You see every question, not just a score.

After each session you can read what your child asked, what the tutor said back, and whether they reached the idea themselves. The tutor also writes an honest note on where it fell short, and you see that note too.

  • What they worked on
  • Whether they got there themselves
  • Where the tutor got it wrong
  • Every question they asked, in their own words

A fictional child, shown for illustration.

Built for one child, starting where they are.

Jigyasu follows the Cambridge Primary curriculum in English, Maths and Science. It starts from your child's actual level, not the average of their class, and it moves on when they are ready. They talk to it out loud, and the screen stays quiet. When they reach for a word in Hindi, it understands them and brings them back to English without stopping their thought.

What it will not do

  • Give them the answer straight away.
  • Pretend to be a person.
  • Score them to their face.

Clear about where your child's words go.

  • Stored in Mumbai, on AWS, in a private account.
  • Replies are generated by Anthropic. Speech is turned into text by Deepgram, and the tutor's voice comes from Sarvam. Anthropic and Deepgram are outside India, and Sarvam may be too. Emails to you go through Resend.
  • After each session a separate Anthropic pass checks the tutor's teaching against our rules. It grades the tutor, never your child.
  • Their audio is not kept unless a parent says yes.
  • Free to use, with an optional voluntary contribution. We do not sell their data or use it commercially.
  • Early, and being refined with a small number of families.

Ask for access.

We bring in families one at a time, so we ask first. Tell us a little, and we will reply personally.

Jigyasu is open to Stage 3 for now. Other stages join a waiting list, and your request tells us which to open next.
